Happy Batman Day 2020. Batman, The Dark Knight, The Winged Avenger. One of the most iconic characters in comics and pop culture today is Batman . There are so many interpretations of the dark knight and everyone has their own favorite. Mine happens to be Val Kilmer's depiction of Batman In the 1995 movie Batman Forever Directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton. I know that Batman forever isn't the most popular of choices to be ones favorite batman, but i will tell you why I love it.
Growing up in the late 80's 90's my first exposure to batman as a kid was Adam West donning the cape and cowel. This was a bright, cheesy, and over the top version set in the silver age of comics. Then there was Batman the animated series which was incredible. It had a darker tone but was still easily accessible for kids given it's medium. Fast forward to today and Batman has become even darker, more gritty and more popular than ever. Batman Forever was the perfect mid point and melding of the eras. Bright, colorful and cheesy, mixed with Dark and grim. Not to mention the well hidden product placement of McDonalds.
The suit is one that I loved. It was carefully sculpted, and bat nipples aside is still one of the best film suits to this day in my opinion.
I am posting this in honor of it being Batman Day September 19, 2020 and to show and voice my support for the #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut of Batman Forever.
Modeled in Maya, sculpted in ZBrush and Mudbox, Cape Simulation in Marvelous designer, Textured in Substance painter and Photoshop, rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3.
